I am a varsity soccer player for South-Eastern Louisiana University. So, I've been a very competitive athlete for about 18 years or so.

Q: What is your concussion story?

A: During my Freshmen year I received a pretty serious concussion and blow to the face during a match, and I was suffering from Post-Concussion Syndrome. I'd seen a number of doctors, surgeons, optometrists, and no one could really figure out what, kind of, what the problem what - what was going on - so I looked you up, and decided to give it a shot!

Q: When did you come to MyoWorx®?

A: I received the concussion in October of 2008 and I didn't come see you until May of 2009. So, for quite some time.

Q: What symptoms did you have?

A: In terms of symptoms, I had migraines every single day, and I couldn't see anymore. I had blurry, double-vision. I was dizzy, fatigued, my sleeping patterns were off, my eating patterns were off.

Q: When did you start seeing changes?

A: Once I came in we started to tackle a lot of those problems. By late June/July I was able read again, which was pretty huge! Especially being a university student. That really was a large impact on my life at the time. So, being able to read again was a really big one for me. By the first of August I was cleared to play and train again, which I hadn't been able to do since October.

Q: What challenges did you overcome?

A: The changes absolutely effected me in every possible way. Like I said, especially being a university student it's pretty critical that you can read. I would like to say that I take a lot of pride in my school work. It was very, very frustrating to have those complications, to have to try to listen to your books on tape. It made the academic side of university very hard. That, of course, influenced my attitude and my positivity. I was very, very discouraged. My overall health improved once my symptoms started to improve because not only was symptom-free but I was starting to feel happier, I was starting to be successful again in the other areas of my life.

Q: How did you address your second concussion?

A: During one of my practices in the Spring season, same type of situation. I went out for a head-ball and I got headed again. Immediately that day I noticed I had concussion symptoms and I was on top of it right away. I went to my trainer and I was checked out. They reaffirmed it that, yep, I received another concussion. Unlike last time I didn't wait a prolonged amount of time before I contacted you to say, "Okay, I have a concussion again, what can I do right now?" Because I didn't want those symptoms to start up. We knew that if we got to it right away that all those problems could be prevented.

Q: What improvements have you experienced?

A: It pretty much totally cleared up since I've been doing the workout routine and all the stretching exercises that you sent for me to do.

When I got the concussion, same type of thing, the vision was bad, the fatigue, the dizziness, the nausea, all of that was there. Within probably two weeks all of that had subsided. I was back to normal—still a little of tightness in the neck, but that's just kind of muscle-memory working its way out.

Q: How would you advise others?

A: I've actually had a couple of teammates that've gotten concussions since I received mine, and since I've been in treatment with you. Kind of the first thing I say is, you know, "Go have your muscles checked out. Make sure that they're loose enough," because they were restricting the blood flow and all of those symptoms can be reduced if you make sure those are, kind of, taken care of right away. Because there is therapy for concussion. It isn't something that you're going to have to deal with for the rest of your life. It isn't necessarily just anatomically the brain that has a problem. It's other things as well, so I always tell them right away, "Go seek treatment for your muscles, if all you can do is get a massage then go get a massage, but make sure you're taking care of the muscle along your neck because the whiplash from a head injury is half the battle."

I got a concussion nine months ago—around there. And I've been experiencing Post-Concussion Syndrome.

Q: What kind of symptoms were you expeiencing?

A: The symptoms were... You know, my main thing was headaches. I just has a lot of pressure headaches, which doesn't make sense to a lot of doctors. They couldn't understand it. I tried a lot of different places but mainly it was the headaches that brought me here.

Q: When did the headaches start?

A: Ever since, about a week after the accident is essentially when it started.

Q: How has MyoWorx® helped?

A: Quite a bit, I mean, a total decrease in the headaches. Compared to how I was before, when I wasn't on any medication. I mean, quite a significant change. Even right now, as we talk, I couldn't wear my glasses about a month ago. Just, because it would trigger a headache right away. The pressure on my head, no matter how loose they are. They just — for whatever reason it just causes them.

Q: When did you start seeing changes?

A: Probably halfway through the first week. It gives me more confidence to do stuff. It's not only just, "can I do it?", it's like "yes I can do it."

Well, if you're watching this you probably already know that there's not a lot of options out there as far as Post-Concussion Syndrome treatment goes.

I would suggest coming here.

What brought me in was when I realized that I was dealing with some degree of a concussion. I didn't realize it for the longest time. I suffered with a great deal of symptoms for the past seven months and connected it to a few different incidents where I hit my head at work.

Q: What symptoms did you have?

A: I've just been dealing with dizziness, nausea, headache, all the symptoms that are consistent with a concussion. Of course, I didn't truly understand what the nature of a concussion actually was until I started looking into it. So, when I first came here I went through a full evaluation. I realized there was so many more symptoms, so many more incidents than I'd even thought in my life that actually brought me to the level of pain and discomfort that I'm in now—or that I was in, before I came to MMTR [for the MyoWorx® treatment].

Q: What challenges did you overcome?

A: I've seen a significant improvement in all of the symptoms that I had been dealing with. Again, headaches, light-headedness, fatigue, nausea, concentration. Once I understood how the science behind how the muscles actually are responsible for a lot of the symptoms consistent with a concussion... It just made so much sense to me that it's not just always a head injury, it's how the muscles lock-down and contract, create tightness, and they affect the nerves. It all really is neuromuscular. So by doing the stretching and strengthening program I've definitely realized just how effective the stretching and the exercising is to getting loose, and to getting your circulation back and to relaxing your muscles. It's just invaluable to your overall wellness and to eliminating the uncomfortable symptoms.

Q: What improvements have you experienced?

A: I can definitely say, I notice my energy has improved. I can take longer walks without getting a headache. I can be in loud or bright situations that would really, really affect me, and really cause me to feel a lot of discomfort. I can pretty much function normally in everyday situations. Just being at the supermarket, for example, where just weeks and months ago it was a challenge.

Q: How would you advise others?

A: I'd say do your research, research MMTR [and the MyoWorx® treatment], find out what a concussion is. Find out the nature of it, and the science behind it. Get up here as fast as you can because you really learn a tremendous amount. You don't realize how many things in your life may actually be affecting your current situation. So, it's a much needed therapy for a lot of people. Get up here and give the program a shot, it's a great program.

In May of last year I got my first concussion, and then in September or August I got my second one.

Q: What kind of symptoms were you experiencing?

A: Ringing in my ears, my eyes were very sensitive to the light, I was really off balance and I had terrible headaches that lasted from when I woke up to when I went to bed. I wasn't able to go to school because my mind just wasn't working. It was really slow. I was always in a fog.

Q: What changes have you seen since coming in for treatment?

A: The first day my neck wasn't tight. It was loose and I was able to move it. My headaches were gone. They came back a little bit during the night but as I kept coming more and more all my headaches were gone by the end of the first week. My eyes weren't sensitive to the light anymore, my ears weren't ringing and I could handle all the loud noises. I was able to stand straight without getting off balance. I'm able to do school again, think clearly again.

Q: How has MyoWorx® helped?

It's made me, coming here has helped me get a lot happier and be the person that I used to be. It's really nice to do school work again, and be like a normal kid with the rest of my friends at school. If you're suffering with the same issues I would say you definitely need to come up here because it is amazing, it helps you like that.
